Avocado toast

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe avocado weighing 220 g, cut in half, remove the pit and peel
  • 4 slices of whole grain bread
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and halved
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil or unsalted butter, softened
  • Sea salt flakes, for serving
  • Red pepper flakes, optional

Preparation:

  1. In a shallow bowl, mash the avocado with a fork to form a chunky paste. Season with fine salt and black pepper.
  2. Toast the bread until crisp. Lightly rub 1 side of each slice with the cut side of a garlic clove; discard. Lightly butter the toasts and sprinkle with fine salt and pepper.
  3. Spread the avocado puree evenly over the toast and sprinkle the top with sea salt and red pepper flakes, if using.
