Balsamic sauce for vegetables topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
- 2 tsp dark brown sugar, optional*
- 1 tbsp chopped garlic
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 3/4 cup olive oil
- Salad mix or your favorite salad greens, for serving
- Other salad ingredients, such as cherry tomatoes, sliced carrots, thinly sliced red onion, chopped celery, diced cucumber, walnuts
- Blue cheese, for serving
Preparation:
- In a bowl, combine the vinegar, sugar (if using), garlic, salt, and black pepper until the sugar and salt dissolve. Then, whisking constantly, stir in the olive oil. Alternatively, combine all ingredients in a screw-top jar and shake well. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
- Toss a few tablespoons of the dressing with the salad mix and any other salad ingredients, top with blue cheese, and serve immediately.
- If you're not using the dressing right away, cover and refrigerate. Shake again before using.
Note *
If you're using a good quality balsamic vinegar, you won't need any sugar, but if you're using a lower quality one, you might want to add some sweetness..
