Applesauce waffles topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 2.5 cups premium flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 0.5 tsp coarse salt
- 1.5 cups of unsweetened condensed milk
- 0.5 cup applesauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar, ground cinnamon and maple syrup, for serving
- Special equipmentBelgian waffle maker
Preparation:
- Preheat the waffle iron. Preheat the oven to 95°C (205°F) if you plan to bake the finished waffles in the oven.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a large bowl, combine the unsweetened condensed milk, applesauce, brown sugar, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and 3/4 cup water.
- Stir the flour mixture into the liquid mixture and knead until smooth. Don't overmix; it's okay if a few lumps remain. Let the dough rest at room temperature for 5 minutes.
- Pour enough batter into the waffle iron to fill it to the brim and cook until crisp, 6-7 minutes. The waffles are ready when almost no steam comes out of the iron. Continue cooking in batches until all the batter is used.
- Keep the finished waffles in a warm oven or cover them with foil on a plate while you prepare the rest. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon and serve with maple syrup.
