Mac and Cheese Casserole in the Oven

Ingredients:

  • 450 g of pasta horns
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3.5 cups heavy cream
  • 2.5 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 0.5 tsp ground mustard
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 450 g grated sharp cheddar
  • 450 gr. whole milk mozzarella, grated
  • 450 g of grated Gouda

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 190°C. Bring a large saucepan of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook the pasta according to package directions, 3 minutes less than directed. Drain and rinse under cold water until completely cool; drain thoroughly. Return the pasta to the pot.
  3. Place the eggs, heavy cream, Cajun seasoning, ground mustard, nutmeg, and a large pinch of salt in a medium bowl and whisk to combine. Pour the mixture over the pasta and toss to coat evenly.
  4. Combine the cheddar, mozzarella, and Gouda in a large bowl. Add the cheeses to the pan and toss to distribute evenly. Transfer the mac and cheese to a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  5. Bake until set in the center and golden brown on top, 60-70 minutes. Let cool for about 10 minutes and serve.
