Green beans in a sweet and salty glaze topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tbsp light brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 700 g green beans, ends removed
- 2.5 cm ginger root, peeled and cut into thin strips
- 1 tbsp. l. rice vinegar
- 2 tsp. dark sesame oil
Preparation:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, sugar, red pepper flakes, and 2 tablespoons of water until the sugar dissolves. Combine the green beans with the sugar-soy mixture in a large skillet and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Cover and continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, for 7 to 9 minutes, until the beans are crisp-tender.
- Remove the lid and add the ginger and vinegar. Continue cooking, stirring, until the sauce thickens and coats the beans and the beans are tender, another 5-7 minutes.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and toss well. Serve the beans warm.
