Sweet and Spicy Bacon Bits (Appetizer) topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 450 g bacon, cut into 2.5-1 cm pieces.
- 1/4 tbsp. natural maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
- 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Preparation:
- Spread the bacon in an even layer in a large skillet. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently with a silicone spatula, until the bacon is golden brown, about 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, combine maple syrup, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl.
- Pour off some of the rendered fat from the pan, reserving just a little. Return the pan to the heat and pour the maple syrup mixture over the bacon.
- Cook over low heat until the syrup thickens and the bacon is glazed, about 15 minutes. Serve the bacon warm.
