Swiss Cheese and Bacon Dip topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 8 slices center-cut bacon
- 225 g softened cream cheese
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 heaped teaspoons of Dijon mustard
- 1.5 cups grated Swiss cheese (available in the dairy section)
- 3 chopped green onions
- 1/2 cup coarsely chopped smoked almonds
- Serving options: Young carrots or assorted hot flatbreads, cut into small pieces pumpernickel bread or rye bread or sliced whole grain baguette for dipping into the sauce
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 205°C.
In a nonstick skillet, fry the bacon over medium-high heat. Transfer the crispy bacon pieces to a paper towel to absorb excess grease.
In a bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Swiss cheese, and green onions with the fried bacon.
- Transfer the mixture to a shallow baking dish and bake in the oven until golden brown and bubbling around the edges, 15-18 minutes. Sprinkle with sliced almonds. Transfer the dip to a serving platter and arrange the bread and carrots around it.
Options: Swiss Cheese and Bacon Dip with Horseradish - Add 2 heaping teaspoons of prepared horseradish while mixing the cheese and bacon.
