Caramel Brownie topcook.tomathouse.com
Ingredients:
- 110 g melted butter, plus a little extra for greasing
- Wheat flour for dusting
- 1/3 plus 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1 pack (525 g) German chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup finely chopped pecans
- 60 caramels (expand)
- 1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease a 23x23 cm baking dish with butter and dust with flour.
First, pour the evaporated milk into the bowl with the cake mix. Add the melted butter and chopped nuts. Stir the ingredients together until the batter is quite thick!
Divide the dough in half. Press one half into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the first brownie layer. Bake until slightly set, 8-10 minutes. Then remove the pan from the oven.
- While the first layer of Bruni is baking, combine the caramels and the remaining 1/2 cup evaporated milk in a double boiler (or a glass bowl set over gently simmering water). Stir occasionally until the caramel is completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Pour the caramel mixture over the first baked layer and spread it evenly. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.
- Then, on a clean surface or a sheet of waxed paper, form the remaining dough into a square slightly smaller than the baking dish. Carefully place it on top of the chocolate chips.
Bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool to room temperature. Cover the pan and refrigerate for a few hours to set.
Before serving (or before gifting the brownies to someone you love), generously dust the brownies with powdered sugar and cut into large rectangles, then remove from the pan. These are absolutely delicious, my friends. Make them for someone you truly love… or someone you want to impress.
