Ingredients:
- 4 large slices peeled ginger
- 6 cups unfiltered apple juice
- Zest of 1 orange, cut with a paring knife
- Zest of 1 lemon, cut with a paring knife
- 1 to 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 whole cloves
- 1 red apple, cut into 8 slices, for garnish
- Gummies (taffy) for decoration
- 1 bottle (750 ml) of non-alcoholic sparkling cranberry-apple wine
- 1 cup cinnamon whiskey (optional for an adult version of the cocktail)
Preparation:
- Crush the ginger slices with the flat side of a knife and place in a medium saucepan. Add the apple juice, orange zest, lemon zest, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes over medium heat, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for about 1 hour.
- Poke holes in the apple slices with a toothpick and insert a gummy worm into the skewer. Add cranberry-apple punch and whiskey, if using. Serve the punch in glasses over ice. Garnish with apples.
